Stronger Foundations: Alberta’s 10-Year Strategy

 

Kevin Cooper worked collaboratively with the Housing Policy Branch representatives and senior management of the Housing Capital Programs Branch to develop the capital cost model for Stronger Foundations: Alberta’s 10-Year Affordable Housing Strategy. The plan is expected to increase the affordable housing supply in Alberta by 25,000 units including the construction of 13,000 units of various housing typologies. Cabinet approved the strategy in 2021.


Through Building Forward: Alberta’s 20-Year Strategic Capital Plan

 

Kevin Cooper worked collaboratively with Alberta Infrastructure representatives, and senior management of the Housing Division including the Assistant Deputy Minister, Executive Directors and Directors to formulate a strategic direction for affordable housing in Alberta authored under Sector Nine: Supporting Housing and Inclusive Housing in Alberta’s 20-Year Strategic Capital Plan. Cabinet approved the strategy in conjunction with the Infrastructure Accountability Act in 2021. 


Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP) Application

 

Kevin Cooper worked collaboratively with Alberta Infrastructure representatives, and senior management of the Housing Capital Programs Branch to prepare the Government of Alberta’s application for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.  The application was approved and the governments of Canada and Alberta injected more than $31.9 million to complete crucial repairs and upgrades to seniors and family housing across 95 communities in the province. 


Balwin Place Permanent Supportive Housing

 

Kevin Cooper supported executive leadership at Homeward Trust Edmonton in preparing a $4 million capital grant funding proposal to construct a 25-unit permanent supportive housing facility called Balwin Place. The proposal was approved by the Government of Alberta, and opened in 2018 to house people experiencing homelessness in Edmonton.
